Which is the Most Beautiful Library in Munich?!

Recently, I’ve been to the library a few times (so far only 3x) to work. No, no, I’m still employed at mgm technology partners, and I still have my office there – a very nice one, in fact. But occasionally, I need to write longer documents. Or I have appointments in the city, I’m traveling by bike, and I don’t want to ride to mgm for an hour and then back home.

That’s where libraries come into play. First of all, libraries are beautiful (many of them). And to work with concentration, the phone ban is extremely helpful. It’s also a nice change from the office. That’s why I’m looking for the most beautiful library in Munich. What one finds beautiful is a matter of taste. But many factors come into play: How does it look, how are the tables, how is it working with a laptop, what can you bring in… Your personal taste counts.

Here, I’ll list the libraries I’ve already visited. And if you introduce me to beautiful libraries, I’d be happy to explore them.

  • Deutsches Museum: My current favorite: Large tables for working, beautiful rooms, usually plenty of space. Juristische Bib, LMU: Apparently, there are several. The one I was in was anything but beautiful. I expected more from the law students…
  • Juristische Bib im Rathaus, Stadtbibliothek: OK, the law students can do libraries! This library is a gem! The location is central, the atmosphere is productive. Access is OKish (lockers in front of the library, laptop allowed inside, laptop bag not). Nice: There is a Wi-Fi access here!

Legal Library

  • Mathematical Institute of LMU: The books there are nice (math books, after all…). The library was already worn out when I was still studying, and since then, I don’t think they’ve renovated or repaired anything.
  • StaBi, State Library: Large, quite nice, beautiful tables, beautiful room. Somewhat anonymous.

Out of competition are the following libraries:

  • Math Institute of TUM, Garching: Moderately beautiful, but ultimately great in terms of use: You go in with your bag, unpack your laptop, the tables have power outlets…
  • National Technical Library, Prague: The most beautiful library I’ve ever been to. Very modern, great for working. Maybe a bit large and crowded…

What are your favorites? Let me know, I’m curious.

Best regards, Till.
